Baked Old Bay French Fries

French fries, freedom fries, pommes frites, whatever you wanna call it, I love it. Probably one of my favorite foods on earth. Sometimes, when I’m trying to figure out where I want to eat, my decision is dependent solely on whether or not that place serves fries (and whether or not they’re good). Unfortunately though, fries aren’t all that great for you. So I decided to start making them at home, and adding a little MD flare to it (you guessed it, Old Bay!).

The recipe below is for a healthier rendition of french fries, without sacrificing the deliciousness. Everything is baked, only olive oil is used (sparingly at that), and you know exactly what you’re eating. My family loves having these when I make steak, and sometimes (a lot of the time) I make them for myself just because. I was actually really excited to write this post, because I got to eat the fries. Heck, I finished them all before I even got to sit down and start writing. So, I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!


French Fries

Baked Old Bay Fries

Yield Amount: Side dish for 2-3 Prep Time: 7 minutes Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 47 minutes


2 Medium russet potatoes (unpeeled, you can peel them if you want)
2 tbsp Olive oil (possible more)
1/4 tsp Salt (I use pink salt)
1/2 tsp Thyme leaves
1/2 tsp Oregano leaves
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
2.5 tsp Hot Old Bay Seasoning


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Cut potatoes into slices/wedges
  3. Put potato wedges into a large mixing bowl and pour in about 1 tbsp olive oil
  4. Mix well (don’t be afraid to use your hands)
  5. If the potato wedges are thoroughly coated with olive oil, you don’t need anymore. Otherwise, add a little more until all of the wedges are fully coated
  6. Add salt, thyme leaves, oregano leaves, garlic powder, and old bay into bowl with potatoes
  7. Mix well (again, don’t be afraid to use your hands!)
  8. Lay potatoes out on a baking sheet
  9. Bake undisturbed for 30 minutes
  10. Remove fries and mix around
  11. Place back in oven for 10-15 minutes (time will vary based on how thick your fries are cut)
  12. Remove fries, take a picture, tag @Pizza_and_Perrier
  13. Serve with condiment of your choice (or nothing at all) and enjoy!
